Guardian™ 2 Link
The Guardian™ 2 Link transmitter is part of Medtronic's CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) system. Connects to the Enlite glucose sensor and transmits glucose data wirelessly to the MiniMed™ 640G insulin pump. It is very small - but it makes a big difference, because it reduces and improves glycemic control. It is comfortable and discreet, about the size of a €2 coin, it is placed flat without protruding and it is waterproof. It communicates wirelessly with your pump anywhere on your body and under any type of clothing.When the Continuous Glucose Recording System is combined with the MiniMed™ 640G System and the Guardian™ 2 Link transmitter, pump users benefit from improved sensor accuracy across the range of glucose values, and SmartGuard intelligence, which offers protection from hypoglycemia by spontaneously stopping insulin delivery when the sensor predicts that glucose will reach a predetermined low limit.
The Guardian™ 2 Link transmitter is only compatible with the MiniMed™ 640G insulin pump.
Glucose sensor Enlite™
The glucose sensor is a small electrode that measures your glucose levels. It is placed under the skin in the interstitial fluid, which is where cells receive oxygen and nutrients, including glucose. Glucose sensors are easily inserted using an automatic device: as in other types of infusion sets, a needle is used to insert the glucose sensor. The needle is then removed leaving a thin flexible electrode just below the skin. The glucose sensor is then connected to either the transmitter so that the glucose meter readings can be transferred to the insulin pump or your device, or to a recording device for download to the software once removed.The Enlite sensor is Medtronic's smallest sensor with optimized features designed to provide exceptional comfort and experience:
• Smaller and more elastic sensor: 80% reduction in sensor size compared to the previous Enlite sensor
The new generation Enlite sensor features an innovative special adhesive film that helps reduce skin irritation
• Insertion is easy at the touch of a button, with a hidden needle when inserting and with a 90-degree insertion angle, for painless application.
• More reliable connection between sensor and transmitter, which can reduce the possibility of gaps in the recording data. In addition, in case of loss of connection between the sensor and the transmitter, the new Guardian™ 2 Link transmitter can store data for up to 10 hours.
• Replaced every 5 days.
